Master Control-Hymns of Technology and Aesthetics
At Jaeger-LeCoultre, shock resistance and magnetism, water resistance, precision timing and practical functions have become the only topics among watchmakers, engineers and craftsmen. In order to meet the increasingly updated needs of modern society, Grand Workshop launched the Memovox alarm clock. In the 1980s, the Grand Réveil alarm clock equipped with the Jaeger-LeCoultre 919 movement realized the pioneering work of integrating the perpetual calendar, moon phase display and bronze gong alarm into the square inch space of the watch. Mr. Christian Laurent, a watchmaker who spent more than 40 years in the Jaeger-LeCoultre workshop, visited the exhibition site and performed the assembly of the movement. The crowds in the exhibition hall can’t affect the concentration cultivated in the years. The space of a workbench, a few tools, and a pair of dexterous hands, the amazing movements that marveled the watchmaking industry were born in this simplicity. In addition to watchmakers from the Jaeger-LeCoultre workshop, the brand also invited two film restorers to demonstrate the process of film restoration on site. While the restorers gave the old movies new life, they also kept the unique atmosphere of the age. This process is also a perfect interpretation of the spirit of the craftsman. Just like the artisans in the Jaeger-LeCoultre Grand Workshop, they have been devoting themselves and innovating constantly, making each piece of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s timepieces a masterpiece of long-lasting tradition.
